One of our Christmas presents was an Ikea gift card to help us get a new dining table. So we made the trip out there on New Year's Eve. The kids had a blast, and P3 was in heaven. He loved climbing on all the furniture. And I mean ALL of the furniture.
I already had the table picked out that I wanted, but once we were there we became undecided. In the end we went with a different table that will work better for us. We ate lunch there, and P3 would not eat anything. I had mashed potatoes on my plate, and he likes mashed potatoes. So I forced a spoonful into his mouth, and he lost it. He was sobbing and refused to swallow his food. We gave him a drink of juice hoping to help him swallow. At this point in time, he throws up into my hands. I was very unhappy. We got everything cleaned up, and then went to pick up the table and leave. While we were in the warehouse area, P3 followed his sibling's bad example and started playing behind the boxes of furniture. He refused to come out, so I went in after him and as I was dragging him out, I hit my head on one of the beams. And it really hurt. I was not a happy mama.
We dropped Dad off at work and headed home to get things ready for our New Year's Eve party. We had invited a family over to celebrate with us, and my house still needed to be cleaned up. When we got home at 4:30, the garage door wouldn't open. Sometimes the remote doesn't work, so I got out and tried the keypad. Still nothing. As I'm trying it again, someone drives by and tells me that the power is out! And here is the really sad part. I lost my house key a few months back, and so I had a new key made. Well, the new key would not open the deadbolt. It would go in the lock, but wouldn't turn it. I was almost in tears. We had company coming over at 6 and we were locked out of the house. I called PE to vent, and just as we were finishing talking, I tried the garage button one more time, and it opened!!! Hallelujah! The power was back on!
We were able to get the house presentable, and we had a fun night with our friends. PE brought home pizza from The Pie. We had cake and ice cream because it was also the mom AND dad's birthday. The kids had fun playing with glow sticks, and we played games until the kids were getting cranky and needed to go to bed. It was a fun evening.
After they left, Dad built our new table and P3 was very interested in helping.
Happy New Year!
