PE's parents live close by the golf course where they do city fireworks for the 4th of July. They always host a BBQ, and then everyone walks up to see the fireworks.
This is the first year that we all went as a family. Last year, PE took P1 while I stayed home with P2. It was very hot, and we were melting, so I went to go find us some cold drinks. The kids decided to tag along, which made carrying back 2 smoothies through a huge crowd extremely difficult. I'm amazed I didn't lose one of them in the chaos. They drank the smoothies in less than a minute, and experienced their first brain freeze.
Once it started getting dark, P2 kept wanting to go home.
They got some fun light sabers, which they absolutely love! P2 did not like the fireworks, but at least she didn't cry or scream. She just snuggled with dad while we covered her ears. P1 did great with the fireworks this year!
We did some sparklers and a few little fireworks at our house. Both kids liked the sparklers, except P1 burned his finger on one.
P2 did not like the ones we did on the street. Grandma has to take her inside while we did those. P2 just cries and says "Loud...loud...loud." At night, our neighbors did some really noisy ones, so she would wake up and cry that is was loud. So we had to rock her back to sleep a few nights.
Happy Independence Day!
