St George Trip

We went down to St. George with my family the last week of May. We rented a condo near the Green Valley Resort. The condo had 2 pools that we had fun swimming in. The condo also had a surrey bike in the garage that we took out for a spin. We also spent a lot of time just relaxing in the air conditioned condo. The kids enjoyed watching Disney Junior. PE had a work meeting that he couldn't miss at the beginning of the week, so he joined up with us late Tuesday night. My colitis was still flaring during the trip, but fortunately it didn't get in the way too much.

I had read online about a nice short hike that ended at at a waterfall and pool. It's called the Red Cliffs Nature Trail. We decided to try it out. When we got there though, we found multiple trail heads and we weren't sure which one was the one we wanted. Turns out it is the Red Reef Trail. We got started later in the day than we wanted to, so it was pretty hot. It is only 1/2 a mile, but I wasn't sure I was going to make it. It was very hot, and I was pregnant and had my colitis issues. But I survived and we made it to the little pool. There was another family there that told us within a week, the pool would probably be gone. I guess early spring and fall are the best times for this hike.

My parents and siblings left Thursday after breakfast. We all ate at The Bear Paw Cafe on Main Street. It was a really nice place for breakfast. I want to go back when I am not on a limited diet! The Bear Paw French Toast looked amazing! When we left, we found out that our battery in our new van was dead. At least it happened while my parents were still with us! We had just bought the van 5 days earlier. We jumped the battery and took it to the Ken Garff store. They spent an hour trying to get a hold of Ken Garff Honda in Riverdale to approve covering the cost of the battery. They never did reach them, so we just had them replace the battery. We kept the receipt and had the one in Riverdale reimburse us later. So we spent about 2 hours of our trip waiting in car shop.

We got a room at the Clarion for the rest of our stay. We took the kids to the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center, and I think that was their favorite thing we did. It was a really fun pool with lots of water slides and toys to play on. We grabbed dinner at Wendy's.

On our last day, we went to the Thunder Junction park. It is a really neat park complete with a volcano that "erupts" every so often, and a train that goes around the park. Unfortunately, it was super hot so we didn't last too long. But it would be a fun park to visit again during cooler weather.
