2 Year Facts

P1 had his 2 year check-up. He weighs 27 lbs 6 oz (42nd percentile) and is 34.5 inches tall (52nd percentile). He was mostly good for the doctor, it helped that P2 was having her check-up first, so it gave him some time to warm up to the doctor. He went from happy to sobbing though when the doctor took his sock and shoe off to look at his foot. Silly boy!

He is a healthy, and good-natured boy. He does throw the occasional whining fit, but they really aren't too bad. He is shy around people he doesn't know very well, but he plays pretty well with the kids we see regularly. He loves to color, and he is pretty good at drawing circles. He can even draw 2 circles for eyes, 1 for a nose, and a "line" for a mouth, and a big circle that is mostly around everything for the head. Sometimes it lines up pretty well, other times not so much. His favorite color is orange.

He loves all things Sesame Street, even though we rarely actually watch it. He loves to read books and his vocabulary is exploding. He knows all his colors, and can count to 10 (although he doesn't fully understand what counting is).

He enjoys playing with his aunts and uncles, and loves his grandparents. Whenever we get in the truck he says "Go to Grandma's house."

P1 is a pretty good eater. His favorite food is probably french fries. And I think cookies are his favorite treat (he gets that from me). As long as he has one thing he really likes on his plate, we can get him to eat the other things by "trading." So if he wants another french fry, he knows he has to eat some of his green beans, etc. One of the things that does drive me crazy is that he has a pretty good (bad?) gag reflex. I cannot tell you how many times I have caught his vomit in my hands (I'm getting pretty good at it actually!) He will gag on something, and then automatically throw up. Sometimes it's because we get him to eat something he doesn't want (like broccoli), sometimes it's texture of food, sometimes it's because he's eaten too much, or has tried to take too big of a bite. But there is nothing more frustrating than putting in the effort of feeding your child a decent meal and ending up with most of that meal in your hands.

I think the only other thing I have a hard time with is his poopy diapers. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I can't smell, so I don't always catch his poopy diapers. I have told him sooooo many times to tell me when he has a poopy diaper, but he just doesn't get it and will walk around in a poopy diaper for who knows how long. So I think we are still a ways off from trying to potty train this kid.

But really, I'm grasping at straws for the "hard things" about P1. He really is a super sweet boy, and is "usually" good at doing what he is supposed to.

And he adores his sister:

And loves to sit on his blankie when P2 is on her's. Speaking of blankies, P1 is very particular about going to sleep. We have to spread a blanket out in his crib, and he lays down on his belly with Winnie-the-Pooh in his left arm, and Mickey Mouse in his right arm, and then we have to put another blankie on his toes. Such a silly boy!

And I don't think they come anymore handsome than P1!
